Album Description
Featured at the annual celebration of the show's Broadway anniversary, this is the only karaoke recording of songs from Wicked with on-screen lyrics and a lyric booklet.

This is a new recording with a great cast, under the direction of Michael Lavine, of the Tony Award winning musical Wicked. This album contains two CDs. The first disc has a complete recording of each song, the second disc has fully-orchestrated accompaniment tracks.

All songs are in the original show key, and show tempo. Intros to the songs from the Broadway show are provided. Several live musicians are featured on this album.

On-Screen lyrics will appear when this CD+G is played in a karaoke machine. No lyrics will appear when the album is played in a regular CD player, however, a lyric booklet is provided.

3 out of 5 stars OK for karaoke at home   September 14, 2009
Frank Yee (Danville, CA USA)
Many of the negative comments about this CDG don't have an impact on having karaoke fun at home. The guide vocals are pretty good and better than expected for the Glinda character. If you're a Wicked fan, you will have fun with this disk.

I can't comment on the value of this disk for profressional preparation as I'm not in the business. However, I would agree with other reviewers that the fully synthesized music is way below standard. Not only does the music clearly have a synthesized sound, the synthesizer seems to be of a 1970's vintage. Yes, it's that bad. Ultimately, you can have fun but I'm surprised the producer decided to hire a one man band while also hiring reasonably good singers.

1 out of 5 stars Bad...just REALLY bad   April 28, 2009
J. Thompson
First the music is so synthesized it hurts. Second the "karaoke" tracks have no background vocals which was truly disappointing. I wish I had read some reviews before purchasing. I can't believe the company says they have not received complaints because this cd set is pretty much worthless yet they are charging quite a bit for it.

3 out of 5 stars Different then Broadway version   February 8, 2009
David G. Lohnes
I enjoyed the songs, however, they had a slightly different arrangement from the original Broadway version.

1 out of 5 stars Something Bad Is Happening In Oz!   December 16, 2008
Alex Preston
This cd had much to be desired. I was overly disappointed when I heard how unlike the OBC recording this disc was. Frankly, I was stunned. The makers took their own liberties as far as extending bridges and instrumentals (as heard in No One Mourns The Wicked's intro), and it was quite confusing. I know. Yes, it is karaoke. But isn't the point of karaoke to make the song easily understood for all who perform it? I am very familiar with the score and I could seldom make out which were which beats. Especially during something bad, dancing through life, and even defying gravity. I am really open-minded and i tried to accept it for what it was. But all in all, this cd was, as I revealed in the title of this review, "Something Bad".

3 out of 5 stars I DON'T KNOW WHY THEY HIRED THAT FIYERO!   September 11, 2008
The CD is great. Elphaba and Galinda have nice voices. If you want to have a karaoke night this would be perfect. The only reason you should not by this CD is if your favorite songs are the ones Fiyero sings. This Fiyero is AWFULLY TERRIBLY BAD! I had to skip Dancing Through Life because his voice bothered me so. It is like sitting in chorus class and the girl next to you can't sing to save her life, but she keeps singing louder and louder and louder until you want to scream GO HOME IF YOU CAN'T SING TWINKLE, TWINKLE LITTLE STAR WITHOUT MAKING MY EARS BLEED!
